Fit People are Not Motivated!

We constantly hear people say, “I need some motivation to go to the gym” or if you are someone who goes to the gym 5-6 days per week, people will tell you that “you’re so motivated!” This is False! People who are fit are not any more motivated than any other person in this world. Everyone has motivation at various parts of their day, weeks, months and years. That motivation can show up in a variety of ways. Motivated to play video games, attend a movie or go to a friends pool party. People who are “Fit” are not motivated, they are “DISCIPLINED.” They have made working out and eating healthy a priority. They are not any more motivated than any other person in this world. People who are “Fit” created a habitual foundation of strong dietary habits and exercise. This is hard for a lot of people because strong habits take months and years to build. We are all capable of building these habits, but just like anything worth having in life, its going to take some work.

People who are “fit” don’t always have the motivation to workout, but they do it anyways. Over time their body learns and adapts to the physical and psychological benefits of a strong diet and exercise routine. It becomes a part of daily life, like brushing your teeth. You exercise when most people don’t exercise to keep your routine. That may mean working out late at night, early in the morning, on your lunch break and on your vacations or through a 3 month shut down of your state. You no longer go through waves of working out for a month and then spend the next five months trying to find yourself some motivation to get back to the gym and preparing your food. I am not saying that someone who engages in a strong diet and exercise program does not have their peaks and valleys, but the trajectory of consistency overtime trends in a positive direction.

So the next time you say to yourself “you need someone or something to get you motivated to start eating better and exercising,” Adjust your statement to say “I need to be more disciplined in my workout and dietary habits, because fit people are not motivated, they are disciplined”
